A plant growing in temperate regions with pretty mauve flowers, the scabious, or blue button flower, is traditionally used for its astringent, healing and soothing properties. In cosmetics, scabious extract helps promote fat-release enzymes’ access to the triglycerides of the adipocyte in order to optimise their breakdown.
