The evening primrose is a pioneer plant with yellow flowers which can resist temperatures as low as -25°C. On the American continent, it appears to have survived Ice Ages 70,000 years ago. The plant flowers in the evening and closes again in the morning, with the petals opening up suddenly for a few seconds to around twenty minutes. It is particularly rich in oenothein, a molecule known to activate the « calcium flash » (the "rapid" influx of calcium into skin cells).
In cosmetics, evening primrose extract (organic plant) boosts calcium to revive the skin's radiance.
